Group Therapy Works

by Lena in North Carolina

I was raised up on a farm in North Carolina. I had to pick cotton. I started to get sick (mental illness). My mother took me to her doctor and he told her that I was sick and that I needed help.

I love to travel and go places and meet people. I went to Georgia and lived there for six years. I started to get sick again. I knew that I was ill and needed help so I came back to North Carolina and I went to see a doctor who put me on some medicine so that I would get better.

I am still taking my medicine so that I can get the help. I need to cope. I am now attending group therapy and I love it. We go places such as out bowling and to eat pizza. We also go places like the mall. I love the staff and they have helped me a lot.
