“Dialogue for Recovery” Video Shows The Many Faces of Hope and Healing

A new short documentary produced by Mental Health America's “Dialogue for Recovery” program and Horizons TV, Inc. features the real—and powerful—accounts of four people with serious mental illnesses who are in recovery. All the stories on the 20-minute DVD share one essential message: that recovery is possible. This versatile resource is designed specifically for use in local and national outreach to mental health consumers, their family and friends, and to the general public. Dialogue for Recovery is a Mental Health America initiative aimed at enhancing communication between doctors and patients about treatment goals, medication side-effects and other quality-of-life issues that affect the recovery of people diagnosed with serious mental illnesses. Made possible through a grant from the Shelby Cullom Davis Foundation, the new video is available free of charge from Mental Health America while supplies last. Contact campaign@ mentalhealthamerica.net to reserve your copy or for more information.

Excerpts from the video...

I think what I really want to say is, recovery is a process. And it doesn't have to happen right away...
You can reach for the stars and hope for a great future, and keep that hope alive.
—Sabrina

It’s important to know that...you can find promise and productivity in your life, and I hope in the end that each of us can find peace.
—Barbara
