Mental Health America of Louisiana (MHAL), the state chapter of Mental Health America (National) is dedicated to promoting mental health, preventing mental and substance use conditions and achieving victory over mental illnesses and addictions through advocacy, education, research and service. We envision a just, humane and healthy society in which all people are accorded respect, dignity and the opportunity to achieve their full potential through meaningful social inclusion that is free from discrimination.

MHAL is planning its 26th annual event, Behavioral Health Day 2017, on Tuesday, May 23rd Tuesday, June 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the State Capitol. Behavioral Health Day is held during the legislative session to allow behavioral health (mental/substance use) consumers, their families and advocates to educate legislative representatives regarding issues that affect our everyday lives. This event attracts 500+ members, peer specialist, providers, family members, youth, and advocates across Louisiana. Let your voice be heard on the steps of the state capitol for quality services for individuals suffering with mental health and substance use disorders. Meet with Legislators to educate & advocate for better policies, funding and access to service integration.

In order to make this Behavioral Health Day a success, Mental Health America of Louisiana needs your support. Monetary contributions/in-kind donations are needed. We are kindly requesting DONORS to consider providing financial support of $25.00 to $5,000.00.
