Community Mural Project Brings Partners Together
“Building a Positive Community”
February 1, 2010
NASHVILLE, TN ¬- Participants of the Creative Arts Project, East Park Community Center members, and friends will be creating a mural at the East Park Community Center in Nashville. The project will be directed by artist, Michael McBride and will focus on the question, “What does a positive community look like?” This project is being carried out under an Arts Build Communities grant funded by the Tennessee General Assembly and administered in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission and Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission.
The Creative Arts Project is sponsored by the Middle Tennessee Mental Health and Substance Abuse Coalition (MTMHSAC). The MTMHSAC was established to enable persons with mental illness and substance abuse disorders to express their creativity through art and to help combat stigma within the community about mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse by displaying artwork.
The mural kick off ceremony will take place on March 8, 2010, at 10:00 am and work on the mural will continue through March 12th. The East Park Community Center is located at 600 Woodland Street in East Nashville, Tennessee. We need volunteer artists/painters to help with this project. Please contact us if you would like to help.
