The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the Federal agency charged with improving the quality and availability of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitative services in order to reduce illness, death, disability, and cost to society resulting from substance abuse and mental illnesses. The web site includes links to the three centers, plus research publications online, including the annual National Household Survey on Drug Abuse. There are three Centers in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA):

    The principal purpose of ONDCP is to establish policies, priorities, and objectives for the Nation's drug control program, the goals of which are to reduce illicit drug use, manufacturing, and trafficking; drug-related crime and violence; and drug-related health consequences.

  • National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign

    This ONDCP campaign is a multi-dimensional effort designed to educate youth to reject illegal drugs.  Education and support is provided to parents and other adults to help youth resist illicit drug use.  This is an extensive website with various multi-media resources.

    The primary goal of Al-Anon/ Alateen is to help families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with the problem drinking of a relative or friend. Similarly, Alateen, is a recovery program for young people. Alateen groups are sponsored by Al-Anon members.
