Awards

Mental Health America is committed to recognizing affiliate organizations and individuals across the country who contribute to MHA's mission of helping all Americans achieve wellness by living mentally healthier lives. To this end, Mental Health America accepted nominations for the following awards:

Clifford W. Beers Award: Recognizes a consumer of mental health and/or substance abuse services who best reflects the example set by Clifford W. Beers in his efforts to improve conditions for, and attitudes toward, people with mental illnesses.

Youth Advocacy Award: Celebrates the life and work of a teen or young adult who has spoken out about mental health issues to educate his or her peers and fight stigma around mental illness.

Sandy Brandt Volunteer Service Award: Recognizes a person who has exhibited extraordinary volunteer service and ongoing commitment to the Mental Health America mission. It is designated for individuals who have volunteered at one of Mental Health America's 240 affiliates across the United States.

SCHOLARSHIPS

We regret to announce that the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is unable to provide financial support to consumers of mental health services for attendance at our 2013 Annual Conference, Why Wellness Works: Breakthroughs and Pathways to Whole Health, as a result of the 2013 sequestration.

Mental Health America's staff is working diligently to find alternative sources of funding for consumer scholarships, which we have offered in past years and highly value. We hope to have more information in the coming weeks. Applicants will be notified via email or mail by April 29, 2013 if they have been awarded a scholarship or not.
