Joel Hornberger, M.H.S. - Chief Operating Officer, Cherokee Health Systems, a not-for-profit community health system providing medical, dental ad behavioral health services to underserved rural and urban clients East Tennessee; 1998-1996, 1998-present.  Management positions with several insurance and managed care companies in the Southeast, focusing on HMO, PPO and self-funded health programs; 1981-1988, 1996-1998.  VISTA volunteer, inner city literacy program; 1977.  Volunteer facilitator, strategic planning for not-for-profit organizations concerned with domestic violence, youth emergency services, Hispanic health services, inner city youth development, rural primary care and health care to the uninsured; 1988-present.  Mental Health Association of East Tennessee, Board of Directors; 1992-1995. Kellogg sponsored Fellowship in healthcare collaboration and coalition-building, International Center for Health Leadership Development, Chicago; 2000-2002.  East Tennessee Friendly Access Coalition, focus on improving access to early prenatal and pediatric care for the underserved, Vice-Chair; 2002-2006.
