Mental Health America works in partnership with its more than 320 state and local affiliate organizations to improve the mental health and well-being of every person through advocacy, education, research and service. State and local affiliates bring together mental health consumers, family members and supporters of consumers, service providers and other advocates for collaboration and action. By communication with the National office and each other, affiliates share ideas, challenges and best practices to help meet the needs of those in their community.
Affiliates implement our national initiatives on the state and local levels and develop individual programs geared toward the specific mental health needs of their communities. These programs include:

Support groups,

Public education and advocacy campaigns,

Support of consumer initiatives,

Rehabilitation,

Socialization, and

Housing services.
